Acceptance of a quote is your agreement of these terms and conditions.
Terms and Conditions for S Christie Electrical
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions govern the services provided by S Christie Electrical ("we," "our," “the company,” or "us"). By engaging with our services, you ("the customer") agree to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should refrain from using our services.
2. Services
2.1 S Christie Electrical provides a wide range of electrical services, including but not limited to testing, installations, maintenance, and repairs. All services will be carried out in accordance with relevant UK regulations and standards.
2.2 The works shall be carried out during normal working hours, between 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, unless alternative arrangements have been made with the Customer.
2.3 It is the Customer’s responsibility to move furniture or any obstruction that may impede works.
2.4 Whilst every care will be taken, we cannot accept responsibility for damage to flooring and carpets replaced not as originally fitted. In some cases, it may be impossible to remove flooring or carpet without damaging it. You will be advised of this on a site survey. The customer is advised to employ the services of a carpet or flooring fitter.
2.5 We do not supply a decoratoring or plastering service. This means that we do not make good cable chases and areas around fixtures (which is standard practice in the electrical trade). We may apply an initial bonding fill coat if agreed and quoted for but this would still require further filling and decoration. The customer is advised to seek the services of a plasterer or/and decorator to make good following any electrical work.
2.6 Upon completion of works the work area will be left clean and tidy however additional cleaning may be required by the customer to meet personal standards.
3. Quotations
3.1 Any verbal quotations or estimates are a guide only and may change subject to a site survey and written quotation.
3.2 Written quotes are provided free of charge and in most cases require a site survey before issue.
3.3 All written quotations provided by the company are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
3.4 Any additional work discovered during our work that was not covered by the initial written quotation will be quoted separately and only undertaken with the customer's written consent.
3.5 Any requested amendments or additions to the written quotation by the customer will require a further quotation. You may also still be charged for any work already carried out, materials fitted, materials purchased but no longer required due to your amendments.
3.6 We reserve the right to accept, or refuse work our discretion.
3.7 Any parking charges, congestion charges, low emission zone charges incurred by the company while carrying out work for the customer will be passed onto the customer.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment is due immediately upon receipt of an invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4.2 We reserve the right to request a deposit for the purchase of materials. This will be made clear at quotation and deducted from your next invoice.
4.3 Late payments may incur interest charges at a rate of 5% per week on overdue amounts.
4.4 Payment is preferred by bank transfer, but card or cash may be accepted on request. We do not accept cheques.
4.5 For emergency call outs a call out fee may be payable on arrival and in advance of work to cover the call out and first hour of labour only. This will be communicated to you prior to attendance on site. We reserve the right to refuse any work and leave site where this is not paid.
4.6 The Company does not accept any responsibility for payments lost or delayed.
4.7 The Company reserve the right to withhold any applicable test or installation certificates until full payment has been made.
4.8 After 30 days from the date of the invoice The Company will instruct their preferred company to recover the debt; the subsequent cost incurred by this, will also need to be paid by the Customer.
4.9 The Company reserves the right to add any cost incurred, inclusive of legal fees, in the pursuit of payment to the amount owed.
5. Cancellation and Rescheduling
5.1 Customers may cancel or reschedule an appointment with at least 48 hours' notice. Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in a cancellation fee of £100.
5.2 We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule appointments in cases of emergencies, unforeseen circumstances, or inclement weather.
6. Warranties and Guarantees
6.1 We offer a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour for any work undertaken, subject to normal wear and tear. This does not cover any damage caused by misuse, negligence, or unauthorised alterations to the work.
7. Liability
7.1 We will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, damage, or expense incurred by the customer.
7.2 Our liability for any claim arising out of the performance of our services shall be limited to the cost of the services provided.
7.3 We are fully insured for public liability and professional indemnity.
8. Health and Safety
8.1 S Christie Electrical adheres strictly to UK health and safety regulations. We expect the customer to provide a safe and appropriate working environment. Any hazards that could affect our work should be communicated to us in advance.
8.2 Unless otherwise informed prior to commencement of work, we will assume, you have in place toilet facilities and running drinking water and that they are available for us to use.
9. Access and Permissions
The customer is responsible for ensuring that we have the necessary access to the property to carry out the work. This includes obtaining any permissions or consents required (e.g., from landlords or neighbours).
10. Force Majeure
We shall not be held responsible for any delays or failures in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, strikes, and adverse weather conditions.
11. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Amendments
S Christie Electrical reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to customers in writing.
